Diaspora Engagement
In 2012 the project Board called upon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration for a collaboration to help include Ghanaians in the Diaspora in the documentation of histories and cultural practices of all the traditional states in Ghana. This became paramount since authenticity of the information gathered cannot be said to be entirely authentic when section of Ghanaians (Ghanaians living abroad) are left out. The programme is also to link Ghanaians in the Diaspora to their root for socio-economic development.
History about traditional areas
The Ghana State Book Project has completed State Books for six traditional States including Kwahu Traditional Area, Takyiman Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo region, Offinso Traditional Area in the Ashanti region, Hwidiem Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo region, Awutu Traditional Area in the Central region and Tepa Traditional Area also in the Ashanti region.
There are approximately 389 traditional areas which are to be undertaken in phases for earlier completion. Each phase of the project will at least cover five traditional areas from each region in order to ensure regional balance.
